Foundations
Over time and especially common in old villas, the structure of a house can weaken. The foundations shift and the floor can become uneven. There are several causes for this, such as soft ground conditions or deterioration of the old timber piles.
If your house has uneven floors, windows or doors that jam, and cracks on the ceilings and walls, it may be time to get your house replied or relevelled to avoid further structural damage. Starting with a firm and level foundation before starting any renovation work is also crucial.
Signs that your home may need repiling:
- Cracks in walls, ceilings and corners
- Sagging or uneven floorboards
- Doors and windows that stick
- A tilted or uneven look from outside
For repiling work, we use hydraulic jacks to raise the entire building so our team has a crawl space to do the work. We remove the old foundations, excavate new holes, and place new concrete or timber piles. Then the building is lowered down on its new foundation.
